USA Softball Region 9

Michael Charles White was born in Wellington, New Zealand. In 1980, he came to the USA and played for the Saginaw Bolters Men’s Fastpitch Major Team, out of Saginaw, Michigan. He became a US Citizen in 1994.  Mike earned a BA degree in marketing and management from Mount Mercy College, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was actually on the Mount Mercy Golf Team. A far cry from his Fastpitch softball pitching.

Mike pitched for 27 years participating in numerous USA and ISF Tournaments. He was a top pitcher for the USA National Teams before he retired in 2007 and he helped guide the USA to Bronze Medal in the 2000 World Championships. Mike was selected to the ASA American First Team, 5 times and to the ASA All American Second Team 4 times. He was the top pitcher for the Men’s Fastpitch Major National Champions in 1999, 2002, and 2005. For eleven years, he was a member of the USA Men’s Fastpitch Team.

Mike was inducted into the ISF (International Softball Federation), Hall of Fame, in 2013, as a member of the New Zealand National Team. He was inducted into the Oregon ASA Hall of Fame in 2014 and into the ASA/USA National Hall of Fame in 2015.

Mike currently lives in Eugene, Oregon, and has spent the last six seasons as the University of Oregon Head Softball Coach. He has a coaching record of 280-83-1. His teams have won three PAC 12 League Titles and made three Women’s College World Series Appearances. 

Mike is an Icon in the sport of softball. As a Men’s Fastpitch pitcher, he is certainly one of the greatest to play the game. As a Father, Player, Coach, and Mentor, he is the best!!
